We have always traveled the world in search of the finest pearls for you, our customers. Some trips are quite enjoyable and some are not. As Chinese akoya production has increased and the quality has improved, we decided to inspect the farms of some of the farmers we have been working with in Hong Kong. Combine an offshore typhoon with a challenging combination of planes, boats, and automobiles and you have an experience that will never be forgotten. We look forward to returning.

Zhanjiang is actually one of China's most important pearl production centers. Its output of Akoya cultured pearls makes up two thirds of the country's total saltwater production. So we set out on a trip to one their farms. Being surrounded by sea on three sides, Zhanjiang is blessed with rich marine resources. It has more than 30 island; the total length of coastline is some 1,500 kilometers. Zhanjiang is situated to the south of the Tropic of Cancer and is typical of a tropical climate

"I thought you would enjoy the e-mail sent back from Banice Bazar and Peter Ward on there trip from Hong Kong to Zhanjiang to check out some Chinese Akoya pearl farms we have never been to before. It is unbelievable the places we will go to in search of the pearls and jewelry for our customers. I will report on my next trip to Vicenza Italy . The oysters better watch out for me".

Wow what a trip--never to be forgotten. After a one hour flight from Hong Kong to Hainan Island .We boarded a ferry for a ride on the dirtiest ship afloat. We were on rough seas (typhoon off of the coast) both Su San Lee and Viger both gave back the noodles they ate-right on the floor where we sat.

After arriving, we were taken to hotel for sub humans; we changed to one a tad better.

On to the farm, not bad, the pigs were eating the oysters and leaving the chemical changes on the walkways.

We got back to the hotel and had a very nice dinner followed by a massage and then karaoke bar.

The next day we negotiated with about 8 of the most non-agreeing goons you ever met---it was a comedy!

The goods were a better grade but a little higher than current programs-we did take several lots to be studied.

Right now we're on plane back to HK via Shenzhen where we take another ferry. Plane landing-will talk later.
