View of Train Station in St Lucia from our hotel

No Train Today...

We booked a lovely hotel in Venice, across the canal from the train station. It is a simple 46 minute train ride to the show. On Sunday everything worked as planned-- Perfecto!  A quick walk over the bridge to the waiting train, 46 minutes later we were on the free shuttle bus to the jewelry fair.  map

One would think that on Monday things would be as simple. So we went over the bridge to the ticket window. "Tres ticketo por Vinezia porfovore." Sorry...No train today...Strike!   This is Italia.

Plan B: We went back over three more bridges to the bus station. We asked "When does the next bus leave for Vicenza?"  This is when we heard, "Sorry, no bus to Vicenza. Of course, if you were to go to Vicenza you would take the train!"

Plan C: Hertz. Only one car was left and it was very small; no argument from us-last car in Venice. One hour later, we were on the road! (lots of paper work)

After three U turns on the A4, all is good. That is until we reach the fair exit; every car in Italy was trying to get off this one exit!   One more hour to find somewhere to park the car and walk to the show.  We arrive just in time to have lunch!

Tuesday: We went back over the bridge- three tickets to Vicenza-no problem--Perfecto!!
