Farwell Phoenix

Amid pessimistic reports and expectations, the short lived reincarnation of the Orlando, JCK Jewelry Show opens for its second and final time. The concept was to feed off the traffic of the tremendously successful Tucson Gem Show but weak support by the industry has lead to the end of a JCK spring show, as we know it. There is some talk of a reincarnation in some form as a different format; however, this is yet to be decided.

For us, the show opened to a good first day with a fair number of appointments and a few nice surprises. The independent traffic was slow but the jewelers we worked with did buy. The very best in freshwater and Tahitian were snapped up by jewelers looking for very special pearls. This is why you should always buy pearls on the first day of the show. The best always goes first!

The last day was another Vendors only day--On to Tucson!

Quiet Start for JCK Phoenix

(January 31, '05, 4:34 Virginia Halevi, Phoenix, Arizona)

The JCK Phoenix Show opened Sunday with exhibitors finding it a great opportunity to catch-up on news and gossip with colleagues, in other words Sunday was a very slow day.

Those buyers that were spotted were mainly local, with many of the major national chains notable by their absence. On the upside, the educational seminars taking place during the day were packed.
