The Best Akoya pearls hail from Japan, where they are cultured. More expensive than freshwater pearls, Japanese Akoya pearls are the epitome for the classic quality and grace of what pearl necklaces should be. The cold Japanese waters help to create a more lustrous pearl  than warmer Chinese waters. Chinese Akoya Cultured pearls take only half as much time to grow but when harvested they don't have the tight crystalline structure that gives Japanese pearls its unique surface. Our "Crown" Akoya pearls are considered by the trade to be the best pearls available in the market today.

Chinese Akoya strands are the Value Akoya strands sold today. The price is significantly lower than Japanese and the very best is often used as our A- grade. The Quality of Chinese Akoya has constantly improved. Today's  Chinese Akoya pearls are truly a great value.

If you are looking for affordable  pearls , freshwater pearls may be your best bet. since the 1990's, a class of freshwater pearls  that are round and lustrous have emerged which rival Akoya pearls in both quality and value. Freshwater pearls cover the widest range of options for pearl buyers in size, shape and color.  Our "Crown" cultured freshwater pearls are nearly indistinguishable from a similar set of Akoya pearls at a fraction of the price. Round to the eye it is extremely rare to find a full strand of freshwater pearls of this quality.
